And so here we are in Portland

Lots of driving and lots of beautiful scenery over the past few days.  We have travelled from Port Augusta and stayed at Murray Bridge - Gawler where we intended to stay was beautiful - we were there on a Sunday - it was so....busy BUT OH SO WET!  I can remember being here in 2000 when we travelled across to Adelaide to photograph a wedding - we came to Gawler to check out where 'MCLEODS DAUGHTER" was made - it's a very old town with stunning old stone cottages but it is clean, thriving and new homes are appearing. Travelled through vineyards that just went on and on - beautiful German villages with amazing bakeries.
We drove through beautiful scenery on to Murray Bridge and stayed on the banks of the Murray River with House Boats, Pelicans and gorgeous sunset and sunrise - Don threw in a line but once again had no luck

This is the Bank where the bodies in the barrel were found!

- tall trees forming tunnels for us to drive through - the first really bad stretch of road in our travels just out of Portland and so today yeh!  we are staying put and having a look around this town - hope to catch the red bus and have another meal as good as the one we had last night at Mac's Hotel - cheers for now...
